Madeline Lisaius and Munya Munyati return to Tilting Futures as board members, bringing their experience, leadership, and perspectives back to the community that helped shape their journeys.
Tilting Futures is thrilled to welcome Madeline Lisaius and Munya Munyati to our Board of Directors.
This announcement is especially meaningful: Madeline and Munya are both Tilting Futures alumni. Years after their own experiences in Ecuador in 2014 and in 2015, respectively, they are returning to help shape the future of the organization and create opportunities for the next generation of young people.
Today, their paths span two very different fields, but both reflect the kind of leadership we hope to cultivate through our programs: locally and globally minded, deeply curious, and focused on creating meaningful impact.
Meet Our New Board Members
Madeline Lisaius
Geospatial AI Researcher
Madeline Lisaius is the scientific lead at GeoWatch Labs, bringing AI to advanced satellite analysis of agriculture. Her work broadly aims to help smallholder farmers across the Global South access agricultural insights. Her previous work includes the breakthrough development of Tessera, a tool designed to make sophisticated crop intelligence more accessible in resource-constrained regions and transform how agricultural decisions are made at scale.
Madeline is an alum of Global Citizen Year’s Fellowship, having participated in Ecuador in 2014.
“I’m excited to join the board because I believe that the world would be a better place if more young people had a Tilting Futures experience. As an alumna, I can say that my life was transformed as a consequence, and I’m excited to support the board towards that mission!”
Munya Munyati
Video Producer & Insight Analyst, Thursday Strategy
Munya Munyati is the lead video producer at Thursday Strategy in addition to his work as an insight analyst. His previous work includes producing CBS Sports Golazo’s three-part World Cup documentary in the USA, producing CBS Sports’ Morning Footy show, and developing documentaries for Vice Media.
Munya participated in Global Citizen Year’s Fellowship in Ecuador as part of the 2015 cohort.
“Tilting Futures had a lasting impact on who I am and how I see the world. It expanded my perspective and helped me discover the storyteller within me, shaping both the person and leader I’ve become. I’m excited to join the board because I want more young people to have that same kind of transformative experience, and to give back to a community that has given me so much.”
Coming Full Circle
For 15 years, Tilting Futures alumni have carried their experiences forward into communities, organizations, and industries around the world. Welcoming Madeline and Munya to our Board represents an exciting next chapter in that story: alumni not only applying what they learned through their own journeys, but returning to help shape the experiences and opportunities available to those who come after them.
We’re so excited to welcome them back in this new capacity, and to have their voices helping guide what comes next.

About Tilting Futures
Tilting Futures prepares young people to lead change in a complex world by developing the capacities that make connection across difference possible. Since 2010, the organization has served more than 3,000 students. Its flagship program, Take Action Lab, is an accredited, semester-length program built on an evidence-backed curriculum that develops the durable skills employers, higher education, and civic institutions increasingly recognize as foundational, including agency, self-awareness, perspective-taking, communication across difference, sense of belonging, and the orientation toward purposeful action. Alongside its direct program work, Tilting Futures’ systems change work is focused on making this kind of intentional capacity development a standard feature of how we prepare young people for adulthood, in their communities, in college, and in career. Tilting Futures is headquartered in San Francisco, California.
