14 days is not enough time to explore the gigantic and
hyper-diverse cities, towns and landscapes that India has to offer. Nerveless,
I enjoyed every second of my independent travel to the fullest and with none or
very minor problems. From the British Colonial and historical architecture in
Mumbai to the Persian, Mughal, and Ottoman palaces and fords in the north,
there is no doubt that India still preserves its historical places where you
easily feel you get trapped back on time.
Delhi surprised me with its government buildings and its
amazing and organized metro. It is a cold city full of contrasts between the
modern and the ancient world that clearly shows the development that India is
experiencing.
Highlights in
Delhi:
- Amazing public transportation
- Old Delhi and it’s crowded streets
- Having our friend Sumit as our tour guide
After visiting the capital, we were ready to see the most
touristic place in India, “The Taj Mahal”. It is located in the city of Agra, a
4 hours train from Delhi.
It was sad to see that a city like Agra with such a big
potential of investment thanks to its income from tourism, is suffering the
inability of the government to invest in its citizens and their quality of
life.
- Food
- Taj Mahal
- Fatehpur Sikri (Architecture)
Mahal, we headed to the “Pink City” (Jaipur) in the state of Rajasthan. In my
perspective the most beautiful place out of all the cities we visited.
- Amer Fort
- Pink City
- Hawa Mahal
and a completely freezing overnight, we arrived in our last destination:
Jodhpur. Definitely, the sunsets and the amazing Poha (Flattened rice for
breakfast) made the city an amazing closing for our independent travel.
Jodhpur
- Traveling Momo (That is how I named my new
friend)
- Quiet moment at the Mandore Garden
- City tour to the “Blue city”
