It’s been slightly over two months since I left my host family back in Ecuador. And I miss them beyond imagination.
One of the best parts of living with a host family is having host siblings. My seven year old host sister, Valentina, was one of my first friends. Since everyone in the house was usually busy with work or school, a lot of my time was spent with her. And being a big brother was one of the most memorable parts of my year.
We would spend our nights lying on my bed after long homework sessions, watching disney princess movies en español, and playing el piso es lava. Often our time together would be filled with music. Everytime my host parents weren’t home we would have our own little dance parties, and I’ll never forget that smile on her face whenever a prince royce song came on. Check out some of our jams below.
