Hey everyone! I could really use your help! So I’m not sure how many of you have talked to me about this program I’m in, aka, Global Citizen Year. But they “are an award-winning, non-profit social enterprise forging a new educational pathway for America’s emerging leaders. By immersing a diverse corps of Fellows in developing countries during a “bridge year” before college, [Global Citizen Year] prepare[s] them for success in college, careers and our global economy.” That quote is found right on the first page about the program.
Well, one of the great things about this program is how they help high school graduates from all different financial backgrounds to be in the program, to the point of giving full scholarships. One of the funds they use to supply these scholarships is called the Fellow’s Fund, a good name for its use. Without these funds, I personally would not have been able to participate in this program so I will be forever in the debt of Global Citizen Year. Another really cool thing about Global Citizen Year is that they conduct a Summer Campaign for all Fellows which, among other things, includes each Fellow raising $2,500 for the Fellow’s Fund! This is so that next year, students from every background will once again be given the chance to be in Global Citizen Year.
So this fundraising is where I need all of your help. I have a Fundly page, which is an online tool for fundraising, up and running awaiting donations, here is the link to check it out. If you could donate to the Global Citizen Year Fellow’s Fund, I would be extremely grateful and every little bit counts. You would be making it possible for young people to travel and learn about the world on a first-hand basis, and helping the next generation of emerging doers and leaders.
I also wanted to let all of you know about my fundraising event happening next Saturday, August 17th. I will be having a Yard Sale/Bake Sale in downtown Ithaca, from 8am to 1pm, at 317 S. Corn St. I am looking for as much help as I can get with stuff and baked goods to sell (could be anything you’re willing to donate, large or small) to help make this event as big and successful as possible. Please, if you can help, let me know, and send me an email at treco50@gmail.com or give me a call at 607-351-2210 (you could even text me!) or even just show up with a nice surprise. I hope to see some of you there!
Thank you very much for your support!
