Every month the Fellows get together for a two or three day meeting in which we talk about our living situations, apprenticeship progress, and various cultural, historical and social issues. I’ve found that the most important aspect of the monthly meetings is the opportunity to spend time with the GCY-Brazil team, and that’s exactly what we were able to do during our March mid-year retreat. The March meeting was five days and was led by not only our Program Managers Tony and Rebeca, but by the Ecuador Program Manager Shannah as well. We started off the meeting in Salvador, where we enjoyed the first night of carnaval by dancing in the streets with millions of people. The next night we took a six-hour bus ride to Lençóis, situated in Chapada Diamantina National Park. We divided our time between seminars led by the program managers and various hikes around the area, where we were able to explore mountains, waterfalls and caves. These are pictures of some of the highlights of the March mid-year retreat, taken by both Tony and myself.
