Mason is passionate about language and culture. He is involved in the training of self-defense to young men and women, assisting in giving students opportunities to act and preform on stage or camera, and talking to Middle Eastern refugees in Arabic to help them feel more comfortable in the United States. His goals for the year are to gain new understanding of Senegalese culture, learn more about Islam and the social and economic impacts of the religion, and enjoy new experiences in Senegal.
