So let’s get down to business. I’m gonna tell you a little about Pre-Departure Training (PDT) and how it affected me. I came into PDT thinking that I knew exactly who I was, exactly what I wanted from this experience, and exactly what I wanted to. However, through the carefully planned seminars and workshops we participated in, I have learned a countless number of new things about myself and to go into this trip without set expectations.
I would like to thank the many people who made this training as inspiring and effective as it could be.
A huge thank you to the incredibly eloquent speakers who Global Citizen Year selected for this year each gave such important, powerful messages while being uniquely different.
I would like to thank all of the Global Citizen Year staff who were all able to get to know each of us and constantly ask thought-provoking questions and fully supporting us. I really admire all of the staff for being so open-minded and accepting too all of us, you guys have really been great this whole week and it makes me so sad that I won’t see most of you until Re-Entry training in April.
Thank you to the amazing alums who were selected to help facilitate PDT, we’re outstanding. Each of them were able to share personal stories from their experiences but also not make it all about themselves.
A great, big thank you to all of my fellow Fellows. It was so amazing connecting with all of you this past week and it was so hard saying goodbye to a lot of you last night. You guys are each so brave and inspiring to me, I can’t wait to see you all back in April.
And finally, thank you so much to Abby Falik. The mastermind behind Global Citizen Year. Being able to meet her is such a trip, she’s one of the most beautiful, internally and externally, people I have ever met. She’s a huge inspiration to me and my many fellows and meeting her was such a humbling experience. I truly admire her for everything she has done and continues to do. Thank you for giving us this opportunity, you’re really changing lives.
Sorry everyone this easy such a rushed blog, I promise I’ll be going more into detail and including photos in my next posts.
