A recollection of photos with descriptions about places, activities and things of my host community and life in Dindefelo. Hope you like it J
It’s my favorite place to relax or have a fun time with friends, and it’s only a 30 min hike from my homestay!
THE DINDEFELO GARAGE
Here it’s where I take a car to bring me to the city of Kedougou, where I go for shopping and Internet connection. Approximately a one hour and a half ride from Dindefelo.
THE ESCALE OF DINDEFELO.
Located in the center of the village, it’s where small boutiques (seen in the back of the photo) and vegetable/spice stands are located. You can find basic goods like
sugar, rice, powdered milk, soap, bread, etc. This is mumini, daughter of one of the sellers in the escale.
PULAAR LESSONS.
Language classes are held twice a week. Along Ousmane another fellow to the right and our tutor Djiby to the left.
Learning how to cook ataya (Senegalese tea). Drinked regularly throughout the day and especially during family and friends get-togethers.
LUMO DAY!
Market day, It’s held on Sundays. We have sellers and shoppers coming in from all over the region, and Guinea conakry too.
THE SOCCER FIELD OF DINDEFELO.
A section of the soccer field, where matches are held, soccer teams come to practice, and a good place to go for a run.
VIEW FROM THE BACK OF MY HUT.
My host sister frying her beignets, that she sells for only 50 cents!
THE DINDEFELO HEALTH POST.
Also my apprenticeship, where I work weighting babies, taking temperatures, heights,
and the patients information.
