My "experience" in high school wasn't a good one but don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad one either. What it HAS been was a journey trying to find the "up to my down".
In elementary school, my fourth grade teacher asked the class of twenty what their dream schools were. My bestfriends answered with “PRINCETON” “HARVARD” “STANFORD”, while I stayed silent. I never had that thought pop into my mind and even throughout my high school years, it never occurred to me. At one point, I knew that college right after high school wasn’t an option for me or at least I didn’t want it to be.
I knew there had to be something out there for me. Within days of searching for a program to keep me occupied during my gap year, I finally came across Global Citizen Year. At this point in time, I found out that this was going to be the “up to my down”.
If I’m being honest, I have no idea where life is going to take me and what I’m going to do with all of this time I expect to have in this world but what I do hope is that it could help me grow.
